White Box shows a part of a series of drawings by Ko Aarts, made in 2009. They show a strong contrast between the black crayon and the light tinted paper. The image looks like a phantasmagoria where buildings and planes appear with sometimes black celestial bodies.
The atmosphere is sinister. It seem to be archeological remains of an unknown but at the same time contemporary world. The simplicity and personal signature of the objects puts the gloom in perspective: it also becomes childish fresh and humourous. Day and night seem to be caught in one image. It reminds of the moment af an eclips. Titles like Black Sun could point that out.
