My works could be defined as extended movements. They touch upon subjects as patterns, space, scale, journey, landscape, mind-scape, and the path of life. In travelling there is a merger of two fundamental movements, the movement in time, and the movement in space. Any path is in a sense a time-line. My focus is not on the starting point, nor on the destination, but on the ‘in between’: the line that represents both the beginning and the end.
In the works I join opposing notions: the minimal gesture and the big picture, the logical and the irrational, the personal and the universal, the tangible and the intangible. Even my colors tend to come from the opposite sides of the spectrum.
My media are drawing, animation, (multimedia) installations and text. I find text suitable for creating a journey or space without using material form. In installation I am drawn to the spatial context, and to the relation between the image and what makes it appear. In animation or video it is the motion that appeals. In drawing it is the line itself that is the line.
